About Me

I've always had a passion for learning. At school, I was the kid who went to every after-school class imaginable and did an extra A-level in my spare time, just because I was interested in the topic. I used to drive my teachers mad with questions about why we have freckles and what causes hurricanes.

In 2011, I thought I better start answering some questions instead of asking them all the time, and I became an English teacher at a secondary school in Derbyshire. It was here I fell in love with the science of learning and really understood how great pedagogy can unlock the understanding and application of knowledge.

I spent seven years in education (both teaching and working in leadership development with trainee teachers) before heading out to Asia. Here I worked with charities and local schools to learn more about teaching and leadership in a different context. Teaching English in a classroom with a dirt floor, in 38 degrees, and with everyone from babies to 18-year-olds (and many, many cats) in the room was a brilliant, humbling experience and I learnt so much along the way.

I returned to the UK in 2019 and, since then, I’ve been working in a range of online and in-person learning design roles across charity and large corporate. My process is always to place people at the centre of the learning. I work hard to understand the gaps within an organisation, and how best to deliver learning so people can embed new knowledge and skills as quickly as possible.

I also love working with data and I’m passionate about showing real return on investment when designing any learning experience. My programmes consistently demonstrate impact, with a recent leadership development project resulting in a 97.5% increase in knowledge and confidence, and with a Net Promoter Score of 93. Data also showed that 41% of participants were promoted either during the programme or within three months of finishing.

Most recently, I have completed my Professional Diploma in Digital Learning Design with the Digital Learning Institute to ensure my skills in instructional design, using AI, and leading the full learning development process are as up-to-date as possible. With the world of digital learning moving so quickly, I believe it’s vital to stay current with new innovations and best practice.

Outside of work, I live with my partner (Kev) and our three cats (Spud, Boomer, and Mokey). We’re currently renovating a 160-year-old cottage in a sleepy little village to the south of Nottingham, a project that is definitely all about learning! I spend my spare time walking, taking photos, kayaking, writing, doing archery, travelling, and eating great food with family and friends.
